Housing prices up nearly two points from the previous quarter. By type of housing, the annual rate of new housing prices is 8.4%, more than two higher than the previous quarter.
For its part, the annual variation of the second-hand housing down more than three points, to 3.2%.
By type of housing, new housing prices rose by 3.7% between the first and the second quarter of 2016. Meanwhile, prices of second-hand housing increased 1.5% in quarterly rate
All regions posted positive quarterly rates in the second quarter of 2016. The largest increases over the previous quarter occur in Madrid and Catalonia, with increases of 3.1% and 2.5%, respectively.
HPI data are consistent with those published quarterly in Eurostat, and therefore serve as a comparison between housing prices of the different member states of the EU.
