The purchase and sale of housing rose 19.3% in June compared to the same month in 2016, to 44,135 operations, the highest figure since February 2011, according to data from the National Statistics Institute of Spain (INE) .
With May's year-on-year increase, home buying and selling adds two consecutive months to the upside after it rebounded 23% in May and achieved its highest transaction figure since February 2011.
Transactions on used homes increased by 19.2% in June compared to the same month in 2016, to a total of 36,236, while the purchase of new homes increased by 19.8% year-on-year to 7,899 transactions.
89.8% of the homes transmitted by purchase and sale in the sixth month of the year were free houses and 10.2% protected. Free housing sales increased by 18.2% in June year-on-year, to 39,625 transactions, while operations on sheltered housing rose 29.3%, with 4,510 transactions.
In monthly terms (June to May), housing sales fell 1.4%, 2.6 percentage points less than the previous year.
